Dayglow "The World's Largest Paint Party"

Since it's debut in 2006 Dayglow has taken the nation by storm. The out of this world combination of high-energy music, lights, performers and of course LOTS OF PAINT is truly a unique and spectacular show. When I first heard that the tour was coming to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania I was ecstatic, and of course immediately starting thinking of what I would wear. I've been to many events that showcase quite a spectacle but nothing of this magnitude. After racking my brain for something imaginative and original that would not be completely ruined by all the paint I decided to get creative and make my own pair of Snooki inspired boots.
I used a pair of ugg-like boots from Wal-Mart and attached faux fur with elastic and Velcro. They looked awesome at the beginning of the night but by the end of the night they were a Dayglow inspired work of art. There were some equally artistic and creative outfits but these were definitely one of a kind.

If you have been to Dayglow or a similar event I would love to see how you made your outfits unique and individual! I need inspiration for the next show

Suburban Street Style

For a long time I have considered myself a city-girl stuck in the suburbs. It is easy to get the impression that life outside the city is filled with cardigans and pearls and that every house has a white picket fence. Being a resident of suburbia doesn't mean shopping only in department stores or mirroring "Bree Van De Kamp".

When city-sleek hits the suburban streets it tends to turn some heads. It is easy to put together a fashionable ensemble when you are surrounded by designer boutiques on every block, but when the seasons latest and greatest are not just around the corner creativity goes a long way. Cities are filled with people using fashion to make a statement, but less competition means more recognition when you are the neighborhood's most stylist resident. This suburban fashionista mixes patterned tights with loud colors to prove that every community is home to lots of fabulously fashionable ladies.

Love this Lehigh Valley Street Style !

Cut & Paste

It looks like cut-outs aren't just for art class. This seasons designers are giving us ways to show some skin in unexpected places. A strategically placed slit can make an outfit super sexy, but revealing too much can take trendy to trashy very quickly. I love this style, especially leaving openings around the waist.

The black underneath is not working for me, and this dress reminds me of the snowflakes I used to cut up in elementary school.

Don't forget your spray tan for those areas that haven't seen the sun lately! No one wants to be caught looking like Casper the friendly ghost. Whenever I wear styles that expose my under garments I take careful consideration into whether I want to make a statement with bold or bright lingerie or focus on the outfit and keep it neutral below.

Ring Bling

Lately I have wanted to accessorize my hands with rings but this has brought to my attention that my ring collection is lacking. Now that I am wearing longer sleeves and jackets more often I want to make a statement with my hands. Here are some of my favorites I've found while shopping so far

Left: Belle Noel Swarovski Crystal Statement Ring from Shopbop
Right: Web Lace Ring from Jewelmint

Other Worlds at Urban Outfitters

Alternative Bling from Etsy

Stacking ring also from Etsy

I have very small fingers so shopping from rings, especially online can be tricky. What are your favorite jewelry sites?

Autumn burns brightly

When I looked out the window this morning I was inspired by the rich colors of the leaves to inject a fall feel into my outfit. I chose a striped shirt to offset the other solid pieces & added some fabulous jewelry for a little extra flair. I believe that the color of this shirt does a great job of capturing an authentic autumn shade.

Keeping this look relatively inexpensive allowed me to splurge on a bangle by Marc Jacobs (found at Zappos) that I paired with other similar red bangles from Macy's

The jeans, shirt and necklace all from Forever 21, Blue & White striped shirt from Brandy Melville, and Boots from Kohl's ( HURRY THE BOOTS ARE AN UNBELIEVABLE PRICE RIGHT NOW )

Designer Decoration

If you're like me and have a million and one issues of your favorite magazines, here is a great way to put them to use! This DIY vase gives designer decorations a whole new meaning. This is aso a unique and inexpensive gift idea. My vase is straight from Vogue!

Lots of color works best, especially on the edges

Flip the page so that the side you would like "showing" is facing down and fold the paper
( I went with about 3/4 inches )

Roll up the strip of paper ( tighter for smaller circles and looser for larger , your preference )

Place glue on the edge of the roll-up and hold tightly until dry. Hot glue dries fairly fast!

Place glue on one side of roll-up and place on vase

Enjoy your "brand name" decor, this vase is truly stylish !

Day & Night

Somewhere in the blur of the last few weeks fall seems to have arrived in full force. The colder weather gives way to lots of layers, fantastic coats and so many ways to accessorize.  I love all the cozy sweaters and great boots, but the one part of this time of year that I am not a fan of is that it gets dark so early! Darkness at 6pm moves up the deadline for a night time look. Two quick changes to the jacket and shoes simplifies the transition from day to night.

DAY

Jacket : Promod
Shoes: JCP last season, Express has similar ones this season

NIGHT

Shirt & Belt: Brandy Melville
Shorts: The Gap
Tights : Forever 21
Shoes: ELLE for Kohl's
Jacket : I found this is Italy, the brand is Subdued

Cackle & Crackle Nails

When putting together a memorable and most likely over-the-top Halloween costume every little detail counts. Originally a horrifying mistake in polish choice, these "bloody" nails are the perfect touch for your eerie ensemble.

It comes as no surprise that OPI has a shade for every occasion, including Halloween. The best part is you can score this spooky style with just a few quick brush strokes.

If red & white aren't exactly fitting for your frock, get the same effect with an orange polish finished with black shatter. If you're like me and trying on is a must, peep the polish at the TRY IT ON section of the OPI website.

Frugal Finds

When it comes to shoes, saying that I have an obsession is an understatement. I pride myself in taking very good care of my shoe collection and in turn I don't mind splurging on an absolutely FABULOUS pair. Even if I may not regret spending my hard earned money on shoes, finding a deal is always better than breaking the bank.

On Friday night, to my surprise, I found myself in the shoe department at Kohl's with a stack of shoe boxes taller than me. With all these shoes being very reasonably priced to begin with, the fact that the store was having a blowout sale made me unable to hold back from buying 4 pairs! I saved more than I spent, and spent less than I normally would have on just one pair. I couldn't wait to share these incredibly frugal finds !

Happy Shopping !!!
